Attending an Elluminate Event (NMCA using AventaLearning)

In preparation for your upcoming meetings in Elluminate, please take the following steps prior to your first session.

 

Getting Ready

• Ensure that you are at the computer on which you will attend your Elluminate Live! session, and that is it connected to the Internet.

• Ensure that you have a microphone and speakers to take full advantage of the audio capabilities during the session.

• Ensure that you are an administrator on your computer and can install software. If you are unsure, please contact your system administrator.

 

Step One: Installing Java Web Start

• Go to the following Web page:

http://www.elluminate.com/support/supportsoftwaredownload.jsp

• Click on the button labeled “Download and Install the Required Software”

• Click Yes if you see a security warning that asks “Do you want to install and run…Java Plug-in…”

• When you see the License Agreement, click “I accept the terms in the license agreement” and click Next.

• Select the Typical installation.

• When the installation is finished, Java Web Start is ready to use!

 

Step Two: Installing and Testing Elluminate Live!

• Go to the following Web page:

http://www.elluminate.com/support/supportsoftwaredownload.jsp

• Click on the button labeled Join Configuration Room

• Enter your first name on the sign in page.

• During the installation you may see a security warning that states “This application is requesting unrestricted access to your local machine and network.” Click Start.

• You may see a License Agreement. Click on I Agree.

• Once you are in the Configuration Session ensure that your Microphone and Speakers are working by Setting up your Audio Tools  Audio  Set Up Audio

• When complete, choose Exit from the File menu.

 

Step Three: Meeting Day

• Ensure you have a meeting room with Internet access

• Have a computer with Elluminate software installed, speakers, and microphone

• Have a LCD projector if needed (if large audience)

• Be prepared to have fun!! 

 

Interaction and Communication

• Upon entering the event, you have access to your microphone feature. You can hold down the microphone button and speak to whoever is in the room. Make sure to click on the button to talk and also click on the button when you finish.

• You also have a Text Chat feature allowing you to chat with event participants.
